Michigan pulls away in second, rolls over Battle Creek, 10-3

The Michigan Mountain Cats scored five goals in the second period to pull away from the Battle Creek Revolution and clinch a 10-3 win.

Kade Morrison had four goals and three assists to lead Michigan. Morrison's first goal came 2:32 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:23 into the first, at 10:36 into the second, and at 16:11 into the second.

Battle Creek fell victim to a deadly the Mountain Cats power play, which ripped the Revolution for four goals.

The Michigan penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. The Mountain Cats surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. Michigan's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Battle Creek power plays. Battle Creek was unable to stop the Mountain Cats from sending pucks towards the net, and Michigan eventually piled up 61 shots on goal. The Mountain Cats outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Michigan averages 1.9 goal per contest.

Michigan also got points from Jacob Gleason, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Kenny Forton, who also had one goal and one assist, and Abram Prince, who also grabbed three goals and one assist. Chris Hubbard also scored for Michigan. Other players who recorded assists for Michigan were John Arms, Shawn Cornock, Christopher Williams, and Austin Buchholz, who contributed one a piece and Shawn Mott and Zach Collins, who each chipped in three.

The Revolution were often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and one major for 63 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 24.0 minutes per game Battle Creek had been spending in the box. The Revolution's offense rang up 45 shots on the Mountain Cats' net.

Battle Creek was helped by Derek Dodge, who registered one goal. Dodge scored 4:09 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Michigan. Blake Thompson assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Battle Creek included Brandon Benaglio and Forrest Walbeck, who each put in one. More assists for Battle Creek came via Chris McCausland and Eric Stewart, who contributed one a piece.

Walker Bass made 42 saves for Michigan on 45 shots. Nathan Mortland rejected 51 shots on goal for the Revolution. Team's Andy Metzler and Barkley Haney were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
