Dundas shrugs off penalties, upends Bentley, 6-2JL Grightmire Arena Tue, Apr 15, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Bentley Generals failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Dundas Real McCoys shook off a number of penalties to win, 6-2. Dundas was led by Nick Smith, who grabbed one goal. Smith scored 3:28 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Dundas. Ryan Christie provided the assist. In the losing effort, Bentley was led by Kyle Bailey, who finished with two goals. Bailey scored the first of his two goals at 1:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Bentley. Don Morrison picked up the assist. Bailey's next tally made the score 4-2 Dundas with 11:22 left in the third period. A high sticking call on Keenan Desmet put the Generals on the penalty kill. Shawn Germain assisted on the tally. The Real McCoys stifled Bentley's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Generals were unable to stop Dundas from sending pucks towards the net, and the Real McCoys eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Dundas found itself short handed often, totaling 18 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays. Dundas also got points from Justin Davis, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Christie, who also had one goal and one assist. Greg Stewart also scored for Dundas. More assists for Dundas came via Simon Mangos, who had two and Kevin Bolibruck, Cam Watson, and Dave Bowman, who each chipped in one. Bentley could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game. In addition, Bentley received assists from Garrett Watson, who had one. Mike Mole made 27 saves for the Real McCoys on 29 shots. Dundas registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. Travis Yonkman recorded 25 saves for the Generals.
