Undaunted by a three-goal deficit, the Brantford Blast battled back to claim a 5-4 victory over the Kenora Thistles. Brantford never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Blast fell behind 4-1 after a goal by Kenora's Sean McAslan at 14:08 in the first period. Brantford tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Joel Prpic at 17:12 in the first period. The Blast got the game winner at 2:42 in the second period on a goal by Prpic. Prpic was all over the ice for Brantford, as he had two goals in the win. The Blast's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Brantford also got points from Chris Leveille, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Brantford included Dave Russell and Mike Burgoyne, who each put in one. In addition, Brantford received assists from Brandon Dietrich, who had two and Mark Taylor, Jeff Caister, and Jon Jankus, who each chipped in one. The Thistles put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Brantford to score on any of its five power plays. Kenora was helped by Rob Lawrence, who tallied one goal. Lawrence scored 2:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kenora. Matt Miller picked up the assist. Kenora additionally got points from Jesse Baraniuk, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Kenora also got a goal from TJ Sakaluk as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kenora were Sean Hughes, Marlon Gardner, Nathan O Nabigon, and Justin Bowers, who contributed one each. Brett Leggat made 24 saves for the Blast on 28 shots. Brantford incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Ryan Person recorded 20 saves for the Thistles. Kenora incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
