Colorado Thunderbirds (MM) downs Buffalo Jr. Sabres (MM) in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Colorado Thunderbirds (MM) pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over Buffalo Jr. Sabres (MM) on a clutch goal by Caleb Pola.

Pola had a great game for Colorado Thunderbirds (MM), netting two goals. Pola scored at 13:24 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Colorado Thunderbirds (MM) and again while 3:50 into the fourth to make the score 3-2 Colorado Thunderbirds (MM).

Colorado Thunderbirds (MM) pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 34 penalty minutes.

Colorado Thunderbirds (MM) put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Buffalo Jr. Sabres (MM) to score on any of its seven power plays.

Colorado Thunderbirds (MM) also got points from Blake Terry, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Colorado Thunderbirds (MM) received assists from John Greer, who had two and Rider Stoglin, Michael Yacullo, and Jake LeBauer, who contributed one a piece.

Buffalo Jr. Sabres (MM) was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 49 minutes in penalty time. Buffalo Jr. Sabres (MM) had been averaging 16.0 minutes in penalties per game. Buffalo Jr. Sabres (MM) forced Colorado Thunderbirds (MM) goalie Jared Young to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Buffalo Jr. Sabres (MM) was helped by Andrew Robinson, who racked up one goal. Robinson scored 16:22 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Cameron Cook picked up the assist. Buffalo Jr. Sabres (MM) also got a goal from Randy DiNatale as well. More assists for Buffalo Jr. Sabres (MM) came via Aaron Reinig, who had one.

Matthew Blattenberger rejected 24 shots on goal for Buffalo Jr. Sabres (MM). Buffalo Jr. Sabres (MM) ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Fritz was ejected from the game.
