Sydney Sabres beats Perth Pelicans 9-2 as Kubara gets hat trick

Perth Pelicans could not stop Sydney Sabres' Casey Kubara, who tallied a hat trick in a 9-2 win.

Kubara's first goal came 49 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 7:46 into the second and at 30 seconds into the third.

Sydney Sabres' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Perth Pelicans power plays. By firing 28 shots on goal, Sydney Sabres exceeded the 4.7 shots it averages per game this year. Sydney Sabres found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Sydney Sabres averages 4.7 goals per contest.

Sydney Sabres additionally got points from Cameron Todd, who also registered two goals and four assists, Bryan Costa, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Hayden Sheard, who also grabbed three goals and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Sydney Sabres were Ilman Lee, who had one and Brendan Kong, Luke Zvonicek, and Joshua Hansen, who each chipped in two.

Jonathan Hughes made three saves before being replaced by Rhett Kelly, who took the win and made seven saves. Sydney Sabres incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
