Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) defeated Colorado Thunderbirds (MM) in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO). The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams. Colorado Thunderbirds (MM)'s shootout goal was scored by Beau Dommer. Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM)'s other shootout goal was scored by Wes Fry.Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) made the score 3-1 on a power play goal by Brandon Tucker at 3:09 in the third period. Colorado Thunderbirds (MM) evened things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Mason Peterson at 7:54 in the third period. Jackson Bond had two goals to lead Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) to victory. Bond scored at 1:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) and again while 5:42 into the first to make the score 2-0 Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM). Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) made Colorado Thunderbirds (MM)'s goalies to work in net, taking 31 shots and forcing 27 saves. Nick Kossoff made 25 stops and Jared Young made two. In addition, Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) received assists from Adam Kleven, Jacob Bayer, and Colin Quinn, who contributed one a piece. Colorado Thunderbirds (MM) could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game. Colorado Thunderbirds (MM) was helped by Jake LeBauer, who racked up one goal. LeBauer scored 3:46 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM). Dommer assisted on the tally. Colorado Thunderbirds (MM) also got a goal from Kyle Wojahn as well. Other players who recorded assists for Colorado Thunderbirds (MM) were Zachary Tucker, Michael Yacullo, and Chase Kalter, who each chipped in one. Andrew Shortridge recorded 15 saves for Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM). Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
