North Iowa rolls over Twin City, 7-2

The Twin City Steel had trouble finding ways to stop the North Iowa Bulls, which beat Steel, 7-2.

North Iowa's penalty kill excelled, as the Bulls gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays.

North Iowa was paced by Matt Kroska, who registered one goal and one assist. Kroska scored on the power play 2:56 into the second period to make the score 3-1 North Iowa. The Bulls earned a power play opportunity when Tyler Lodin was put in the box for checking from behind. Richie Marenis assisted on the tally.

North Iowa forced Twin City goalie Jackson Germaine to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. The Bulls could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 42 minutes in penalties during the game.

North Iowa additionally got points from Marenis, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Conor Jonasson, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for North Iowa included Kyle Krueger, who had two and Austin Jackson and Taylor Brown, who scored one goal each. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Timothy Santopoalo, who had two and Chancie Hanson, Matthew Kaitchuck, Tyler Richison, Chris Howard, and Dylan Zins, who contributed one a piece.

The Steel could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Twin City was helped by Jace Childs, who tallied one goal. Childs scored on the power play 4:05 into the second period to make the score 3-2 North Iowa. A roughing penalty on Andrew Halama had put the Steel on the power play. Alexander Konnov provided the assist. Dylan Lincoln also scored for Twin City. Other players who recorded assists for Twin City were Ben Ihrie, who had one.

North Iowa's Chris Amsden stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Bulls registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Germaine rejected 36 shots on goal for Twin City.
