Belle Tire (mm) uses shootout to best Oakland Jr. Grizzlies (mm), 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Belle Tire (mm) defeated Oakland Jr. Grizzlies (mm) in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for 14 attempts between the teams. Oakland Jr. Grizzlies (mm)'s shootout goal was scored by Derek Daschke. In addition to the clincher, Belle Tire (mm) got a shootout goal from John Sladic.

Belle Tire (mm) overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Belle Tire (mm) was down 3-2 after a power play goal by Oakland Jr. Grizzlies (mm)'s Daschke at 16:39 in the second period. Belle Tire (mm) tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Sladic at 10:18 in the third period.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:59 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Belle Tire (mm) penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. Belle Tire (mm) had been averaging 16.0 minutes in penalties per game. Belle Tire (mm)'s offense rang up 33 shots on Oakland Jr. Grizzlies (mm)'s net. Belle Tire (mm) got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Caleb Hute also scored for Belle Tire (mm). In addition, Belle Tire (mm) received assists from Nick Gawel, Danny DeBlouw, and Julian Biondo, who each chipped in one.

Oakland Jr. Grizzlies (mm) kept Belle Tire (mm)'s goalie busy throughout the game, and Jacob Laurain made 35 saves on 38 shots. Oakland Jr. Grizzlies (mm) struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 27 penalty minutes for two opposing power plays.

Oakland Jr. Grizzlies (mm) was led by Danny DiGrande, who had two goals and one assist. DiGrande scored the first of his two goals at 12:54 into the first period to make the score 1-1. William Lockwood provided the assist. DiGrande's next tally made the score 2-1 Oakland Jr. Grizzlies (mm) with 15:57 left in the second period. Oakland Jr. Grizzlies (mm) had gotten the advantage when Belle Tire (mm)'s Aryan Batra was sent off for high sticking. Daschke picked up the assist. Oakland Jr. Grizzlies (mm) also got points from Daschke, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Oakland Jr. Grizzlies (mm) came via Hunter Wendt, who had one and Ben Mansky, who had two.

Belle Tire (mm) ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and PJ Rapin was ejected from the game. Oakland Jr. Grizzlies (mm)'s Jack Leavy stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Oakland Jr. Grizzlies (mm) registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. For Oakland Jr. Grizzlies (mm), Lema Muradov was ejected from the game.
