Soo Firehawks jumped out to a five-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat Berkley Bruins, 14-0. Cody Anderson had a great game for Soo Firehawks, netting five goals. Anderson's first goal came 7:01 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:14 into the first, at 16:11 into the first, at 2:42 into the third, and at 3:52 into the third. Nicolas Berlingieri frustrated Berkley Bruins' offense all game, and stopped 33 shots en route to a shutout. Berlingieri certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 4.91 entering the contest. Soo Firehawks made Berkley Bruins' goaltenders to work between the pipes, totaling 52 shots and forcing 38 saves. Kory Dombrowski made 20 stops and Brandon Bawol made 18. Soo Firehawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Berkley Bruins power plays. Soo Firehawks outdid its season average for goals scored. Soo Firehawks has scored at the pace of 5.9 goals per game during the current campaign. Soo Firehawks was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 24 penalty minutes. The defensemen of Soo Firehawks were also effective in Berkley Bruins' zone, and came away with two goals. Soo Firehawks also got points from Matthew Majic, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Matthew MacLaren, who also registered one goal and one assist, Justin Garton, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Andrew Holder, who also had one goal and five assists to lead the team in points, Ryan Marshall, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Christopher Hazen, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Quinton Myotte, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Soo Firehawks also got a goal from Dakota Boissoneau as well. In addition, Soo Firehawks received assists from Nick Papandrea, who had two, Nate Fitzpatrick, who had three, Taylor McRorie, who had four, and Connor McNary, Luke Wizauer, Kevin Killips, and James Goudreau, who contributed one a piece. Berkley Bruins was held below its usual level of production. Berkley Bruins averages 3.7 goals per game. Soo Firehawks was unable to stop Berkley Bruins from sending pucks towards the net, and Berkley Bruins eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Berkley Bruins' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in four goals to Soo Firehawks' power play unit. Soo Firehawks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Majic was ejected from the game. Berkley Bruins ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
