Traverse City Hounds uses fast start to beat Michigan Ice Dogs, 9-1

Michigan Ice Dogs fell behind early, and Traverse City Hounds kept piling on the points on the way to a 9-1 victory.

Traverse City Hounds got the win behind a great game by Adam Jonak, who had two goals and two assists. Jonak scored the first of his two goals at 5:53 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Traverse City Hounds. Alexander Grizzel picked up the assist. Jonak's next tally made the score 9-1 Traverse City Hounds with 7:45 left in the third period. Kenneth Simmons Jr assisted on the tally.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 18:46 into the second period. Six fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Michigan Ice Dogs was unable to stop Traverse City Hounds from sending pucks towards the net, and Traverse City Hounds eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. Traverse City Hounds bested its season scoring average. Traverse City Hounds averages 5.2 goals per game. Traverse City Hounds got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed four goals during the game.

Traverse City Hounds also had goals scored by Cory Bussing and Josh Smith, who scored two goals each and Scott Luca, Kevin Miloser, and Garrett Cebalt, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Traverse City Hounds were Zach Early, Kevin Hansen, Jacob Gillis, Patrick Rogowski, Dalton Gertsen, and Matthew Passino, who each chipped in one.

Michigan Ice Dogs was often in penalty trouble, totaling four minors and three majors for 43 minutes in penalty time. Michigan Ice Dogs surpassed its season average of 33.0 penalty minutes per game.
