Alpena Street Cats beats Michigan Ice Dogs 9-3 as Skurikhin gets hat trick

Michigan Ice Dogs could not stop Alpena Street Cats' Savelii Skurikhin, who tallied a hat trick in a 9-3 win.

Skurikhin got on the scoresheet 36 seconds into the second period. He then added goals at 4:00 into the second and at 16:09 into the third.

Michigan Ice Dogs' seven penalties came back to haunt it, as Michigan Ice Dogs let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

Alpena Street Cats made Michigan Ice Dogs' netminders to work between the pipes, racking up 39 shots and forcing 30 saves. Anthony Veresan made 30 stops and Colton Lewicki made zero. Alpena Street Cats surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, Alpena Street Cats averages 4.5 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Alpena Street Cats also got points from Pavel Bocharov, who also tallied three goals and three assists to lead the team in points, Andrei Yanovich, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Vladislav Khasanov, who also registered two goals and two assists. In addition, Alpena Street Cats received assists from Kameron Russell, Egor Yaragin, and Vladimir Mokrousov, who contributed one a piece and Andrei Kiselev and Sergey Merzlov, who each chipped in two.

Michigan Ice Dogs forced Alpena Street Cats' goaltenders to work all game long, getting 31 shots and forcing 28 saves. Aleksandr Shishkin made 24 stops and Vlad Salangin made four.

Michigan Ice Dogs was helped by Hunter Ledgerwood, who grabbed one goal. Ledgerwood scored 4:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Michigan Ice Dogs. Cameron Kucharski assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Michigan Ice Dogs included Michael Ryan and Drew Hull, who each put in one. More assists for Michigan Ice Dogs came via Marc Rotondo, who had one.

Alpena Street Cats incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Michigan Ice Dogs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
