Bloomington Jr Blaze vanquishes Michigan Ice Dogs in shootout, 6-5 (2-1 SO)Grossinger Motors Arena Sun, Dec 15, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Bloomington Jr Blaze defeated Michigan Ice Dogs in a shootout 6-5 (2-1 SO). The two teams needed 18 turns to complete the shootout. Michigan Ice Dogs got a shootout goal from Kerry Cummings. Bloomington Jr Blaze's other shootout goal was scored by Duncan Irvine.Bloomington Jr Blaze came back from a five-goal deficit to capture the victory. Bloomington Jr Blaze fell behind 5-0 after a short handed goal by Michigan Ice Dogs' Logan Bennett at 1:16 in the second period. Bloomington Jr Blaze knotted things up at 5-5 on a power play goal by Brock Drews at 14:58 in the third period. Micah Young was all over the ice for Bloomington Jr Blaze, as he had two goals in the win. Young scored on the power play at 4:16 into the second period to make the score 5-1 Michigan Ice Dogs and again while on the power play 14:22 into the second to make the score 5-3 Michigan Ice Dogs. Bloomington Jr Blaze outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, Bloomington Jr Blaze averages 3.8 goals per contest. Bloomington Jr Blaze also got points from John Urmetz, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Justus Kree, who also registered one goal and one assist.
