Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Bloomington Jr Blaze defeated Michigan Ice Dogs in a shootout 6-5 (2-1 SO).

The two teams needed 18 turns to complete the shootout. Michigan Ice Dogs got a shootout goal from Kerry Cummings. Bloomington Jr Blaze's other shootout goal was scored by Duncan Irvine.

Bloomington Jr Blaze came back from a five-goal deficit to capture the victory. Bloomington Jr Blaze fell behind 5-0 after a short handed goal by Michigan Ice Dogs' Logan Bennett at 1:16 in the second period. Bloomington Jr Blaze knotted things up at 5-5 on a power play goal by Brock Drews at 14:58 in the third period.

Micah Young was all over the ice for Bloomington Jr Blaze, as he had two goals in the win. Young scored on the power play at 4:16 into the second period to make the score 5-1 Michigan Ice Dogs and again while on the power play 14:22 into the second to make the score 5-3 Michigan Ice Dogs.
