Detroit Fighting Irish rips Michigan Ice Dogs, 9-3

Anthony Wojciechowski was all over the ice for Detroit Fighting Irish, as he tallied one goal and three assists in Detroit Fighting Irish's 9-3 win over Michigan Ice Dogs.

Wojciechowski scored 11:25 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Detroit Fighting Irish. Michael Cruse picked up the assist. Wojciechowski dished an assist on James Smith's goal that made the score 3-2 Detroit Fighting Irish at 19:39 into the first period. He then added assists on Chadwick Cobb's goal at zero seconds into the second and on Robert Speer's goal at 16:46 into the third.

Detroit Fighting Irish pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 20 penalty minutes.

Detroit Fighting Irish's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Michigan Ice Dogs power plays. Detroit Fighting Irish kept Michigan Ice Dogs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Anthony Veresan made 33 saves on 42 shots. Detroit Fighting Irish bested its season scoring average. This season, Detroit Fighting Irish averages 3.4 goals per contest.

Detroit Fighting Irish also got points from Speer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Ryan Santo, who also registered three goals and one assist. Detroit Fighting Irish also had goals scored by Aaron Robinson and Jeff Kuhary, who scored one goal each. In addition, Detroit Fighting Irish received assists from Ryan Morse, who had one, Joshua Arnold, who had two, and Gilbert Guerrero, who had three.

Michigan Ice Dogs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Michigan Ice Dogs was helped by Christopher Carpenter, who racked up one goal. Carpenter scored 5:21 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Detroit Fighting Irish. Drew Hull assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Michigan Ice Dogs included Michael Ryan and Matthew Hartford, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Michigan Ice Dogs were Tyler Textor, who had two and Steven Keith and Hunter Ledgerwood, who contributed one a piece.

Christopher Lewis recorded 16 saves for Detroit Fighting Irish. Michigan Ice Dogs ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major.
