Detroit Fighting Irish holds on for 4-2 win against Soo Firehawks

Soo Firehawks tried its best to erase a four-goal deficit, but Detroit Fighting Irish would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2.

A goal by Anthony Wojciechowski put Detroit Fighting Irish up 4-0 in the second period, but Soo Firehawks pulled to within two on Trevor McRorie's tally 18:45 into the third period.

Detroit Fighting Irish put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Soo Firehawks to score on any of its five power plays. Detroit Fighting Irish's offense rang up 36 shots on Soo Firehawks' net.

Detroit Fighting Irish was helped by Jarrad Vroman, who registered one goal and one assist. Vroman scored on the power play 13:13 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Detroit Fighting Irish. Detroit Fighting Irish had gotten the advantage when Soo Firehawks' Tyler Jones was sent off for slashing. Ryan Krolikowski provided the assist. Detroit Fighting Irish additionally got points from Krolikowski, who also had one goal and one assist. Ryan Santo also scored for Detroit Fighting Irish. In addition, Detroit Fighting Irish received assists from Aaron Robinson, who had two and Robert Speer and Dallas Fritz, who each chipped in one.
