Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Bloomington Jr Blaze defeated Berkley Bruins in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO). The shootout lasted for five attempts between the teams.Bloomington Jr Blaze overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Bloomington Jr Blaze fell behind 3-1 after a goal by Berkley Bruins' Timothy Muhsman at 6:02 in the second period. Bloomington Jr Blaze tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Micah Young at 4:55 in the third period. Berkley Bruins was unable to stop Bloomington Jr Blaze from sending pucks towards the net, and Bloomington Jr Blaze eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Bloomington Jr Blaze was led by Duncan Irvine, who tallied one goal and two assists. Irvine scored 6:54 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Berkley Bruins. Justus Kree picked up the assist. Dylan Farmer also scored for Bloomington Jr Blaze. Other players who recorded assists for Bloomington Jr Blaze were Shane Olinger, Steven Smoltz, and Nathan Zoellner, who contributed one a piece. Berkley Bruins forced Bloomington Jr Blaze goalie Kent Nusbaum to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.
