Murphy leads Soo Firehawks over Berkley Bruins, 6-5

Nicholas Murphy had two goals and two assists to lead Soo Firehawks to a 6-5 victory over Berkley Bruins.

Murphy found the back of the net 11:33 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Soo Firehawks and again while 19:03 into the third to make the score 6-5 Soo Firehawks.

Soo Firehawks led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Soo Firehawks' Trevor McRorie's scored at 2:30 in the second period to put Soo Firehawks up 4-1.

Soo Firehawks forced Berkley Bruins goalie Kory Dombrowski to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Soo Firehawks also got a goal from Justin Garton as well. More assists for Soo Firehawks came via Kevin Killips, who had two and Luke Wizauer, Cody Anderson, Calder Ashton, Justus Mancuso, and Quinton Myotte, who contributed one a piece.

Berkley Bruins was led by Vaughn Clouston, who racked up two goals and two assists. Clouston scored the first of his two goals at 12:39 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Soo Firehawks. Grant McCormack provided the assist. Clouston's next tally made the score 5-5 with 1:53 left in the third period. A roughing penalty on McRorie had put Berkley Bruins on the power play. Steven Kubas picked up the assist. Berkley Bruins additionally got points from McCormack, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Colton James also scored for Berkley Bruins. In addition, Berkley Bruins received assists from Brandon Goodes, who had two.

Nicolas Berlingieri took the win and made 10 saves before being replaced by Mancuso who made 15 saves. Soo Firehawks incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Kory Dombrowski made 31 saves for Berkley Bruins on 37 shots. Berkley Bruins incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
