Chicago Fury (MM) survives penalties, beats Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM), 5-1

Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) failed to take advantage of its power play opportunities and Chicago Fury (MM) shook off a number of penalties to win, 5-1.

Chicago Fury (MM) was sparked by Jason Kowalczyk, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Kowalczyk scored on the power play 5:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Chicago Fury (MM). Chicago Fury (MM) had taken the advantage when Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM)'s Tristian Pfiefer got sent off for interference. Thomas Martyn assisted on the tally.

Chicago Fury (MM) put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) to score on any of its eight power plays.

Chicago Fury (MM) additionally got points from ANDREW BUSSEY, who also tallied one goal and one assist. SCOTT SWANSON also scored for Chicago Fury (MM). More assists for Chicago Fury (MM) came via MAX PUSCHECK and Nico Spatola, who each chipped in one and Jet Bell and Jack Nile, who contributed two a piece.

BRYAN ABELL recorded 21 saves for Chicago Fury (MM). Chicago Fury (MM) incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Sam Kany took the loss and made three saves before being replaced by Andrew Shortridge who made 13 saves. Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
