Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) uses shootout to best Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM), 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) defeated Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for 12 attempts between the teams. Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) got a shootout goal from Wes Fry. Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) also got a shootout goal from Mitch Fossier.

Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) trailed 3-1 after a power play goal by Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM)'s Fry at 14:20 in the second period. Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Nathan Krusko at 17:11 in the third period.

Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) forced Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) goalie Andrew Shortridge to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) was helped by Christopher Magee, who registered one goal. Magee scored 16:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Thunder AAA Hockey (MM). Fossier provided the assist. Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) also got a goal from Connor Wood as well. Other players who recorded assists for Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) were Mitchell Foster, Cole Crawford, Tyler Tate, and Austin Beaulieu, who each chipped in one.

Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) to score on any of its five power plays.

Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) was helped by Brandon Tucker, who racked up one goal. Tucker scored 10:54 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Matt Littler picked up the assist. Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) additionally got points from Fry, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jackson Bond also scored for Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM). More assists for Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) came via Adam Kleven, Ty Munson, Evan Nickels, and Taylor Moorman, who contributed one a piece.

Joseph Cruz recorded 20 saves for Thunder AAA Hockey (MM). Thunder AAA Hockey (MM) incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM)'s Shortridge stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
