Chicago Fury (MM) vanquishes St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) in shootout, 2-1 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Chicago Fury (MM) defeated St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) in a shootout 2-1 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for eight attempts between the teams. St. Louis AAA Blues (MM)'s shootout goal was scored by Alex Jasiek. In addition to the clincher, Chicago Fury (MM) got a shootout goal from Jason Kowalczyk.

Chicago Fury (MM) overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Chicago Fury (MM) fell behind 1-0 after a power play goal by St. Louis AAA Blues (MM)'s Charles Combs at 2:35 in the first period. Chicago Fury (MM) tied things up at 1-1 on a goal by SCOTT SWANSON at 15:49 in the third period.

Chicago Fury (MM) was led by goalie Jeremy Wik, who finished with 33 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Wik will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.81 entering the contest.

In addition, Chicago Fury (MM) received assists from JOSEPH KINSELLA and GARRETT RIEBLING, who contributed one a piece.

St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Chicago Fury (MM) to score on any of its three power plays. St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) could not produce up to it normal offensive output. St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) averages 4.5 goals per game. St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) forced Chicago Fury (MM) goalie Wik to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.
