MISSISSAUGA hangs on, beats BURLINGTON 2-0

MISSISSAUGA took the lead against BURLINGTON in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 2-0 victory.

Ashley Rothon provided MISSISSAUGA with the game-winning tally when she scored 1:37 into the the first period. Kelly Mariani provided the assist.

MISSISSAUGA pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes.

MISSISSAUGA was paced by Rothon, who finished with one goal.

MISSISSAUGA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow BURLINGTON to score on any of its seven power plays.

MISSISSAUGA also got a goal from Nadine Edney as well. Other players who recorded assists for MISSISSAUGA were Stephanie Sucharda and Kaitlin Lowy, who each chipped in one.

BURLINGTON did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 11 shots on net to force 11 saves.

Alysia DaSilva recorded 11 saves for MISSISSAUGA. MISSISSAUGA registered one goal on five power play opportunities. EJ Milne-Price made 23 saves for BURLINGTON on 25 shots. BURLINGTON incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
