DURHAM WEST's comeback falls short, MISSISSAUGA wins 4-2

DURHAM WEST almost clawed its way back from a three-goal deficit, but MISSISSAUGA managed to pull out a 4-2 win in the end.

MISSISSAUGA led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when MISSISSAUGA's Nadine Edney's scored at 1:00 in the second period to put MISSISSAUGA up 3-0.

Victoria Bach had one goal and two assists to lead MISSISSAUGA. Bach scored 6:20 into the third period to make the score 4-2 MISSISSAUGA. Caitlyn Sadowy picked up the assist.

In the losing effort, DURHAM WEST was paced by Alysha Burriss, who registered two goals. Burriss scored the first of her two goals at 8:06 into the second period to make the score 3-1 MISSISSAUGA. Samantha McKenzie provided the assist. Burriss' next tally made the score 3-2 MISSISSAUGA with 11:47 left in the second period. Kennedy Marchment assisted on the tally.

MISSISSAUGA also got points from Sadowy, who also had one goal and two assists and Kelly Mariani, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, MISSISSAUGA received assists from Stephanie Sucharda, Lindsay Agnew, and Ainsley MacMillan, who each chipped in one.

DURHAM WEST managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. DURHAM WEST wound up below its season average of 9.0 penalty minutes per game. DURHAM WEST's defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. DURHAM WEST gives up 1.7 goal per game.

More assists for DURHAM WEST came via Katrina Manoukarakis, who had two.

Alysia DaSilva recorded 24 saves for MISSISSAUGA. MISSISSAUGA incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. DURHAM WEST's Melissa Black stopped 16 shots out of the 20 that she faced. DURHAM WEST registered two goals on six power play opportunities.
