MISSISSAUGA boosted by Boughn's play in net, beats BARRIE 6-1

MISSISSAUGA relied on the sparkling performance of Amelia Boughn in net to grab a 6-1 win against BARRIE.

MISSISSAUGA pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes.

MISSISSAUGA was sparked by Ashley Rothon, who racked up one goal. Rothon scored 10:50 into the second period to make the score 2-1 MISSISSAUGA. Kaitlin Lowy assisted on the tally.

MISSISSAUGA forced BARRIE's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 31 shots and forcing 25 saves. Alexx Ridding made 22 stops and Becka Verschuren made three. MISSISSAUGA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow BARRIE to score on any of its seven power plays. MISSISSAUGA found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. MISSISSAUGA has scored at the pace of 3.5 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of MISSISSAUGA were also effective in BARRIE's zone, and came away with three goals.

MISSISSAUGA additionally got points from Stephanie Sucharda, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points and Victoria Bach, who also tallied one goal and two assists. MISSISSAUGA also got a goal from Lindsay Agnew as well. In addition, MISSISSAUGA received assists from Shana Walker, who had one.

BARRIE's normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. BARRIE gives up 2.3 goals per game.

BARRIE was led by Chelsea Tucker (A), who scored the team's only goal. Tucker (A) scored 27 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 BARRIE. Desiree Robitaille provided the assist.

Boughn rejected 27 shots on goal for MISSISSAUGA. MISSISSAUGA registered two goals on two power play opportunities. MISSISSAUGA ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nadine Edney was ejected from the game. BARRIE incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
