Huge game by Garton boosts xGreat Falls over Yellowstone, 7-4

The xGreat Falls Americans' Dylan Garton had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing three assists in his team's 7-4 win over the Yellowstone Quake.

Garton found the back of the net short handed 2:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 xGreat Falls and again while 19:05 into the third to make the score 7-4 xGreat Falls.

xGreat Falls forced Yellowstone goalie Rocco Yapello to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. The Americans surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, xGreat Falls averages 4.5 goals per contest.

xGreat Falls additionally got points from Johnathan Carpenter, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Steven Butts, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for xGreat Falls included Paul Sartuche, Cody Page, and Lucas Lomax, who each put in one. In addition, xGreat Falls received assists from Donovan Mattfeldt, Brady Christiaens, and Austin Nottke, who each chipped in one and Erik Gatson and Connor Barta, who contributed two a piece.

The Quake made the Americans' netminders to work between the pipes, totaling 39 shots and forcing 35 saves. Erik Powell made 31 stops and Evan Hauser made four.

Yellowstone was helped by TJay Lozier, who racked up one goal. Lozier scored on the power play 3:43 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Quake had taken the advantage when xGreat Falls' Carpenter got sent off for tripping. James Pyle picked up the assist. Yellowstone also got points from Pyle, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Yellowstone also had goals scored by Sawyer Scanlan and Reed Kaiser, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Yellowstone were Jimmy Tich, Mike McCullen, and Ryan Garvey, who each chipped in one.

The Americans incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Yapello rejected 31 shots on goal for Yellowstone. The Quake incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
