Great Falls downs Glacier in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Great Falls Americans' Brady Christiaens scored 28 seconds into overtime to beat Glacier, 5-4 (OT).

Great Falls got the win on the strength of a great game by Christiaens, who had two goals and one assist. Christiaens scored the first of his two goals at 17:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Great Falls. Aaron McInnis provided the assist. Christiaens' next tally made the score 5-4 Great Falls with 19:32 left in overtime. McInnis picked up the assist.

Glacier's power play was ineffective against the Americans' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Great Falls penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 11 minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Americans surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. Glacier was unable to stop Great Falls from sending pucks towards the net, and the Americans eventually piled up 55 shots on goal.

Great Falls additionally got points from McInnis, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Great Falls also had goals scored by Paul Sartuche and Doug Keller, who each put in one. In addition, Great Falls received assists from Bridger Strong, Lucas Lomax, Donovan Mattfeldt, Johnathan Carpenter, Erik Gatson, and Connor Barta, who contributed one a piece.

Glacier racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and two majors for 46 minutes in penalty time. Glacier had been averaging 29.0 minutes in penalties per game. Glacier forced Great Falls' goalies to work without much rest, launching 34 shots and forcing 30 saves. Erik Powell made 12 stops and Evan Hauser made 18. Glacier put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Americans to score on any of their seven power plays.

Glacier was helped by Austin Givens, who grabbed one goal. Givens scored 10:38 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Glacier. Tucker Spooner assisted on the tally. Glacier also got points from Chris Cutshall, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Tyler Latimer, who also had one goal and one assist. Glacier also got a goal from Tanner Dodd as well. More assists for Glacier came via Brett Fernandez, who had two and Padraic Ripple and Paul Kinder, who each chipped in one.

Pierre Gustafsson rejected 50 shots on goal for Glacier. For Glacier, Shane Archuleta was ejected from the game.
