Glacier vanquishes Billings in shootout, 5-4 (2-0 SO)

John Tesarek scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and Glacier picked up the extra point in a 5-4 (2-0 SO) win over the Billings Bulls.

The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams. In addition to the clincher, Glacier got a shootout goal from Tesarek.

Glacier came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Glacier was down 4-2 after a short handed goal by Billings' T J Theodosopoulos at 13:08 in the second period. Glacier knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Tesarek at 19:15 in the third period.

Glacier got the win with help from a great game by Tesarek, who had one goal and one assist.

Glacier forced the Bulls goalie Daniel Oordt to work between the pipes, taking 66 shots. Glacier's goal total was higher than its season average. Glacier averages 2.9 goals per game. Glacier had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on nine chances. Glacier found itself short handed often, totaling 32 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

Glacier was led by Tesarek, who finished with one goal and one assist. Glacier also got points from Tyler Latimer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Brett Fernandez, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Glacier also got a goal from Padraic Ripple as well. More assists for Glacier came via Chris Cutshall, who had two and Cody McGlocklin and Paul Kinder, who each chipped in one.

Glacier was unable to stop Billings from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bulls eventually piled up 54 shots on goal. Billings was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 30 penalty minutes.

The Bulls were helped by Matt Myers, who tallied two goals. Myers scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 1:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Billings. Billings had gotten the advantage when Glacier's Cutshall was sent off for tripping. Theodosopoulos provided the assist. Myers' next tally on the power play made the score 2-1 Billings with 8:40 left in the first period. The Bulls had taken the advantage when Glacier's Shane Archuleta got sent off for roughing. Christian Akita assisted on the tally. Billings additionally got points from Theodosopoulos, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Stephen Thompson also scored for Billings. In addition, Billings received assists from Colter Endy, Ralfs Karelis, and Sam Orth, who contributed one a piece.

Pierre Gustafsson rejected 50 shots on goal for Glacier. Oordt recorded 61 saves for Billings.
