Huge game by Willis boosts Gillette over Billings, 5-2

The Gillette Wild's Moco Willis had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 5-2 win over the Billings Bulls.

Willis scored on the power play at 7:48 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 19:58 into the second to make the score 2-1 Gillette.

Gillette outdid its season average for goals scored. The Wild average 2.9 goals per game. Gillette got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Gillette also got a goal from Darren Banks as well. Other players who recorded assists for Gillette were Greg Sauers, Will Fobair, Alex King, and Sean Kelley, who contributed one a piece.

Billings forced the Wild goalie Kelley to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. The Bulls had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 11 chances. The defensemen of Billings were also effective in Gillette's zone, and came away with two goals.

The Bulls were helped by Colter Endy, who tallied two goals. Endy scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 16:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Billings. Billings earned a power play opportunity when Banks was put in the box for unsportsmanlike conduct. Ralfs Karelis assisted on the tally. Endy's next tally on the power play made the score 5-2 Gillette with 3:34 left in the third period. A cross checking penalty on King had put the Bulls on the power play. Aaron Rio picked up the assist. In addition, Billings received assists from T J Theodosopoulos, who had one.

Sean Kelley made 45 saves for the Wild on 47 shots. Gillette incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Daniel Oordt recorded 16 saves for Billings. The Bulls incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
