Glacier wins tough contest against Yellowstone, 4-3

Glacier and the Yellowstone Quake were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Glacier made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and John Tesarek's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Tesarek had a great game for Glacier, netting two goals.

Yellowstone was unable to stop Glacier from sending pucks towards the net, and Glacier eventually piled up 49 shots on goal. Glacier had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on 13 chances. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Glacier additionally got points from Jacob Hayes, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Glacier also got a goal from Tanner Dodd as well. More assists for Glacier came via Chris Cutshall, Tyler Latimer, Brett Fernandez, and Jonas Svehn, who each chipped in one.

The Quake racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 15 minors and one major for 55 minutes in penalty time. Yellowstone surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game. The Quake forced Glacier goalie Pierre Gustafsson to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Yellowstone was led by Jaden Sveinson, who registered two goals. Sveinson scored the first of his two goals at 19:20 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Yellowstone. Trent Carter provided the assist. Sveinson's next tally made the score 3-2 Yellowstone with 5:20 left in the second period. Carter assisted on the tally. Tommy Toohey also scored for Yellowstone. In addition, Yellowstone received assists from Jimmy Tich, who had one and Josh Neumann, who had two.

Gustafsson rejected 28 shots on goal for Glacier. Glacier incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Rocco Yapello recorded 45 saves for the Quake. Yellowstone registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
