Huge game by McInnis boosts Great Falls over Billings, 6-3

Aaron McInnis was all over the ice for the Great Falls Americans, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Great Falls' 6-3 win over the Billings Bulls.

McInnis beat Cole Semchak with a shot 8:32 into the third period short handed to make the score 4-2 Great Falls. The Americans were on a disadvantage when Zachary Mese went off the ice for boarding. Erik Gatson picked up the assist. McInnis dished an assist on Dylan Garton's goal that made the score 1-1 at 4:53 into the second period. He added another helper on Lucas Lomax's goal that made the score 2-1 Great Falls at 5:58 into the second period.

Great Falls' penalty kill excelled, as the Americans gave up one goal despite allowing 13 power plays.

Great Falls forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 11 minors and one major for 47 minutes in penalty time. The Americans had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. Great Falls' offense rang up 34 shots on Billings' net.

Great Falls additionally got points from Garton, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Johnathan Carpenter also scored for Great Falls. Other players who recorded assists for Great Falls were Cody Page, Brady Christiaens, and Lucas Stover, who contributed one a piece and Donovan Mattfeldt and Connor Barta, who each chipped in two.

Great Falls registered three goals on 12 power play opportunities. For the Americans, Carpenter was ejected from the game. Semchak rejected 28 shots on goal for Billings.
