Billings survives Bozeman comeback, wins 3-1

The Bozeman Icedogs tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Billings Bulls held on for a 3-1 victory.

A goal by Ralfs Karelis put Billings up 3-0 in the third period, but Bozeman pulled to within two on Jake Nicks's tally 12:53 into the third period.

The Bulls' penalty kill excelled, as Billings gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

The Bulls stifled the Icedogs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Billings' offense rang up 36 shots on Bozeman's net.

The Bulls were helped by Tristen Heinrichs, who registered one goal. Heinrichs scored 1:59 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Billings. Stephen Thompson provided the assist. T J Theodosopoulos also scored for Billings. Other players who recorded assists for Billings were Aaron Rio and Orri Haman, who contributed one a piece.

More assists for Bozeman came via Gunnar Mogck and Kegan Couture, who each chipped in one.

Billings' Daniel Oordt stopped 23 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Bulls totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Zach Skop made 33 saves for the Icedogs on 36 shots. Bozeman ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
