Bozeman stifles Yellowstone's comeback, gains 6-4 victory

The Yellowstone Quake almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Bozeman Icedogs managed to pull out a 6-4 win in the end.

Bozeman led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Icedogs' Garret Bryan's scored on the power play at 8:44 in the second period to put Bozeman up 4-1.

Yellowstone was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as the Icedogs were able to score four times while on the power play.

Bozeman was led by Nathan Luznier-Purdy, who finished with one goal and one assist. Luznier-Purdy scored on the power play 5:46 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Bozeman. The Icedogs had gained a power play chance when Dong Seo was whistled for equipment violation.

The Quake were unable to stop Bozeman from sending pucks towards the net, and the Icedogs eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Bozeman bested its season scoring average. This season, the Icedogs average 3.1 goals per contest. The defensemen of Bozeman were also effective in Yellowstone's zone, and came away with two goals.

Bozeman additionally got points from Gunnar Mogck, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Kegan Couture, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Bozeman included Patrick Anaruk and Weston Blatter, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Bozeman were Jake Nelson, who had two and JD Costantini, Jake Nicks, Steven Nisbet, and Ryan Erickson, who each chipped in one.

The Quake were helped by Sawyer Scanlan, who registered two goals. Scanlan scored the first of his two goals at 13:05 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Bozeman. Mitchell Fehd picked up the assist. Scanlan's next tally made the score 4-4 with 19:33 left in the third period. Fehd assisted on the tally. Yellowstone also got points from Jimmy Tich, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Yellowstone received assists from Trent Carter, who had two and Josh Neumann and Mike McCullen, who contributed one a piece.

Zach Skop recorded 20 saves for the Icedogs. Bozeman incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Yellowstone's Case Hansen stopped 26 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Quake incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
