Helena takes care of Bozeman early, wins 11-1

A four-goal first period deficit cost the Bozeman Icedogs, which could not recover and fell to the Helena Bighorns, 11-1.

Jacob Wolter had two goals and one assist to lead Helena. Wolter scored the first of his two goals at 12:29 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Helena. Wolter's next tally made the score 5-0 Helena with 12:25 left in the second period. The Bighorns had taken the advantage when Bozeman's Patrick Anaruk got sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Nick Okada provided the assist.

Helena made the Icedogs' netminders to work in net, racking up 63 shots and forcing 52 saves. John Bishop made 23 stops and Zach Skop made 29. The Bighorns stifled Bozeman's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Helena's goal total was higher than its season average. The Bighorns average 6.0 goals per game.

Helena also got points from Okada, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Dylan Webster, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Parker Olson, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Logan Henne, who also racked up two goals and one assist, and Brandt Miller, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Helena included Tanner Mohar, who had one and Matt Mohar, who had two. In addition, Helena received assists from Damon Hanson, Danny Case, Sebastian Hansson, and Brian Skillicorn, who contributed one a piece.

Penalties took their toll on the Icedogs, as their penalty kill unit let in two power play goals.

Bozeman also got a goal from Jake Nelson as well. More assists for Bozeman came via Jake Nicks, who had one.

Austin Brihn rejected 24 shots on goal for Helena. The Bighorns incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Bozeman incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
