Billings uses big second period to beat Bozeman, 8-1Centennial Ice Garden Sat, Nov 09, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Bozeman Icedogs was within striking distance after one period, but the Billings Bulls put the pedal down in the second en route to an 8-1 victory. Billings pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 32 penalty minutes. The Bulls were led by T J Theodosopoulos, who registered one goal and one assist. Theodosopoulos scored short handed 15:13 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Billings. Billings was on a disadvantage when Sam Orth went off the ice for head contact. The Bulls put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Bozeman to score on any of its nine power plays. Billings' offense rang up 44 shots on the Icedogs' net. The Bulls' goal total was higher than their season average. Billings averages 2.3 goals per game. The Bulls' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in four goals. Billings also got points from Aaron Rio, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points, Torin Foundos, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Nik Nasby, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Colter Endy also scored for Billings. More assists for Billings came via Matt Myers, who had two and Cole Semchak, Christian Akita, Stephen Thompson, and Joseph Mata, who each chipped in one. Bozeman racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 11 minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The Icedogs had been averaging 29.0 minutes in penalties per game. Bozeman was held below its usual level of production. The Icedogs put an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game. Semchak recorded 23 saves for Billings. The Bulls registered three goals on 12 power play opportunities. Zach Skop made 36 saves for Bozeman on 44 shots. For the Icedogs, Weston Blatter was ejected from the game. |
