The Gillette Wild beat Glacier, 2-0, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Gillette took over the lead for good with a goal by Alex King at 11:26 in the first period. The Wild had gotten the advantage when Glacier's Brett Fernandez was sent off for tripping. Darren Banks assisted on the tally.

Gillette's penalty kill excelled, as the Wild gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Gillette was sparked by King, who had one goal.

The Wild stifled Glacier's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Gillette's defensive play was more effective than usual against Glacier. The Wild average 2.4 goals allowed per game. Gillette kept Glacier's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ethan Wiese made 46 saves on 48 shots.

Collin Papesh also scored for Gillette. More assists for Gillette came via Moco Willis, Robbie Lantz, and Dylan Eldridge, who each chipped in one.

Glacier's offense operated below it season average. Glacier puts an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. Glacier excelled on the penalty kill, only allowing the Wild to get one power play goal on 12 chances.

Sean Kelley recorded 23 saves for Gillette. The Wild incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Glacier incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors.
