Billings beats Yellowstone 6-1 as Heinrichs gets hat trick

The Yellowstone Quake could not stop the Billings Bulls' Tristen Heinrichs, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-1 win.

Heinrichs notched his first tally 10:12 into the first period. He then added goals at 6:57 into the second and at 9:10 into the third.

The game was close after the first frame, but Billings banged in three goals during the second period to put the victory out of reach for Yellowstone.

The Quake were stymied by the Bulls netminder Cole Semchak, who stopped 39 shots during the victory. Semchak certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.64 entering the contest.

Billings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Yellowstone to score on any of its three power plays. The Bulls forced the Quake goalie Case Hansen to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots. Billings' goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Bulls average 1.7 goal per contest.

Billings additionally got points from Stephen Thompson, who also had one goal and two assists and T J Theodosopoulos, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Matt Myers also scored for Billings. In addition, Billings received assists from Colter Endy, Ralfs Karelis, and Aaron Rio, who each chipped in one.

Yellowstone's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Billings power plays. Billings was unable to stop the Quake from sending pucks towards the net, and Yellowstone eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

The Bulls ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Hansen rejected 42 shots on goal for the Quake. Yellowstone ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
