The Billings Bulls could not stop the Helena Bighorns' Damon Hanson, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-1 win. Hanson got on the scoresheet 7:23 into the first period. He then added goals at 57 seconds into the second and at 5:12 into the second.Helena pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 14 penalty minutes. The Bighorns forced Billings' netminders to work between the pipes, firing 39 shots and forcing 33 saves. Mark Becica made 18 stops and Cole Semchak made 15. Helena also got points from Theo Campe, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Dylan Webster, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Parker Olson, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Helena came via Matt Mohar, who had one and Nick Okada, who had two. The Bulls were led by Josh Pena, who scored the team's only goal. Pena scored on the power play 9:12 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Billings had gained a power play chance when Austin Loes was whistled for boarding. Conner Brady assisted on the tally. Austin Brihn made 16 saves for Helena on 17 shots. The Bighorns registered four goals on eight power play opportunities. The Bulls incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
