Glacier downs Yellowstone in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Stumptown Ice Den Thu, Oct 10, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Glacier's Karson Frisk scored 34 seconds into overtime to beat the Yellowstone Quake, 5-4 (OT). Glacier nearly gave up a three-score lead. Glacier made the score 4-1 on a goal by John Tesarek at 6:18 in the second period. Yellowstone pulled to within 4-3 on a goal by Mike McCullen at 13:48 in the third period. Paul Kinder and Chris Cutshall provided the spark for Glacier, combining for two goals and six assists. Kinder finished with one goal and three assists and Cutshall also notched one goal and three assists. Glacier forced the Quake goalie Case Hansen to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Glacier found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Glacier averages 2.8 goals per game. Glacier also got points from Cutshall, who also grabbed one goal and three assists. In addition, Glacier received assists from Corbin Emery, who had two and Brett Fernandez and Chase Lazelle, who each chipped in one. Yellowstone's offense rang up 46 shots on Glacier's net. The Quake were ineffective while on the power play, as they were held to one goal off of 10 man advantages. Yellowstone was led by Sawyer Scanlan, who racked up two goals. Scanlan scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 16:21 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Glacier. The Quake had gained a power play chance when Jonas Svehn was whistled for holding. Jimmy Tich picked up the assist. Scanlan's next tally on the power play made the score 4-4 with 3:26 left in the third period. James Pyle assisted on the tally. Trey Kraut also scored for Yellowstone. Other players who recorded assists for Yellowstone were Mitchell Fehd and Avery Lison, who contributed one a piece. Pierre Gustafsson rejected 42 shots on goal for Glacier. Glacier incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Hansen recorded 34 saves for Yellowstone. The Quake incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
