Glacier falls apart in second, loses to Great Falls, 8-0

The Great Falls Americans scored six goals in the second period to pull away from Glacier and clinch an 8-0 win.

Great Falls got the win on the strength of a great game by Lucas Lomax, who had two goals and two assists. Lomax scored the first of his two goals at 9:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Great Falls. Erik Gatson assisted on the tally. Lomax's next tally made the score 5-0 Great Falls with 6:56 left in the second period. Gatson picked up the assist.

The Americans were boosted by Evan Hauser, who turned in a shutout with 25 saves. Hauser managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 0.5 prior to the game.

Great Falls made Glacier's netminders to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots and forcing 33 saves. Jake Mullen made 14 stops and Ethan Wiese made 19. The Americans' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on nine Glacier power plays.

Great Falls additionally got points from Gatson, who also finished with one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Austin Krantz also scored for Great Falls. More assists for Great Falls came via Donovan Mattfeldt, Johnathan Carpenter, Zachary Mese, Brady Christiaens, and Patrick Anaruk, who contributed one a piece.
