Glacier survives Gillette comeback, wins 4-2Stumptown Ice Den Sat, Sep 21, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Gillette Wild tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but Glacier would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2. Glacier made the score 4-1 on a goal by John Tesarek at 19:47 in the second period, and Gillette got as close as 4-2 when Greg Sauers scored 13:41 into the third period. Glacier made Wild's goalies to work between the pipes, finishing with 35 shots and forcing 31 saves. Hunter Marsh made nine stops and Sean Kelley made 22. Glacier could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game. Glacier was helped by Paul Kinder, who registered one goal and one assist. Kinder scored 15:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Glacier. Tanner Dodd also scored for Glacier. Other players who recorded assists for Glacier were Chris Cutshall, who had two and Brett Fernandez, Jackson Schroeder, and Jonas Svehn, who contributed one a piece. Glacier was unable to stop the Wild from sending pucks towards the net, and Gillette eventually piled up 57 shots on goal. The Wild were held back by their power play unit, which tallied two goals on 11 chances. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Gillette was helped by Moco Willis, who tallied one goal. Willis scored on the power play 18:49 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Glacier. The Wild had taken the advantage when Glacier's Robert Dawson got sent off for holding. Sauers picked up the assist. Gillette also got points from Sauers, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Gillette came via Tj Mcminn and Alex King, who each chipped in one. Jake Mullen rejected 55 shots on goal for Glacier. Glacier registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For Glacier, Chase Lazelle was ejected from the game. Gillette ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Wild ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Darren Banks was ejected from the game.
