Stuart's goals lift Louisiana to 6-3 victory over Knoxville

Adam Stuart had two goals to lead the Louisiana IceGators to a 6-3 victory over the Knoxville Ice Bears.

Stuart found the back of the net 3:23 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Knoxville and again while 18:38 into the second to make the score 3-2 Knoxville.

Louisiana's penalty kill excelled, as the IceGators gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Louisiana's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The IceGators surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Louisiana bested its season scoring average. The IceGators have scored at the pace of 3.5 goals per game during the current campaign. With 38 shots on target during the contest, Louisiana exceeded the 28.0 shots it averages per game this year.

Louisiana additionally got points from Chris Wilson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Louisiana also got a goal from Jeremy Boyer as well. More assists for Louisiana came via Shawn McNeil, Tanner Burton, and Ron Cramer, who contributed one each and Bret Peppler, Jordan Braid, and Mitchell Stretch, who each chipped in two.

Knoxville did not challenge the opposing goaltender, taking only 14 shots on net to force 11 saves. The shot total fell below the Ice Bears' season average of 18.2 shots per game. The defense for Knoxville played an important role offensively, racking up six shots on goal.

The Ice Bears were led by Francis Drolet, who finished with one goal and one assist. Drolet scored 2:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Knoxville. Stephen Nardi provided the assist. Others who scored for Knoxville included Tyler Klein and Kevin Christmas, who scored one goal each. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Jon Higgins, who had one and Eric Satim, who had two.

The IceGators' Matt Zenzola stopped 11 shots out of the 14 that he faced. Louisiana registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Cody Rosen made 32 saves for Knoxville on 38 shots. The Ice Bears ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
