Huge game by Dunbar boosts Pensacola over Bloomington, 6-1

The Pensacola Ice Flyers' John Dunbar had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-1 win over the Bloomington Thunder.

Dunbar's tallies came at 11:45 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pensacola and short handed 4:08 into the third to make the score 4-1 Pensacola.

Pensacola's Peter Di Salvo was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 34 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Di Salvo will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.36.

The Ice Flyers' penalty kill excelled, as Pensacola gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

The Ice Flyers outdid their season average for goals scored. Pensacola has scored at the pace of 3.7 goals per game during the current campaign. By firing 43 shots on goal, the Ice Flyers exceeded the 30.0 shots they average per game this year.

Pensacola also got points from Joe Caveney, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Pensacola also had goals scored by Joshua Turnbull, Mitchell Good, and Ryan Salvis, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Pensacola were Jeremy Gates, who had two, Brett Lutes, who had three, and Drew Baker, Shaun Arvai, Steve Whitely, and Adam Pawlick, who contributed one each.

Bloomington relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Mike Henderson, Travis Granbois and Eddie Olczyk took 18 of the team's 35 shots.

In addition, Bloomington received assists from Curtis Megginson, who had one.

Pensacola incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. BJ OBrien made 37 saves for the Thunder on 43 shots. Bloomington incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
