Mississippi RiverKings squeaks by Knoxville, 4-3Landers Center Fri, Mar 21, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Mississippi RiverKings escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Knoxville Ice Bears. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Sean Jones secured the win for Mississippi RiverKings with a goal in the third period. Jones had two goals and one assist to lead Mississippi RiverKings. Jones scored the first of his two goals at 3:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mississippi RiverKings. Matt Harrington picked up the assist. Jones' next tally made the score 4-3 Mississippi RiverKings with seven seconds left in the third period. Harrington provided the assist. Mississippi RiverKings' defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 18 shots between them. Mississippi RiverKings' offense was clicking better than usual and put 41 shots on goal during the game, better than the 28.7 shots per game it averages. Mississippi RiverKings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Sheldrake was ejected from the game. Bryan Hince recorded 37 saves for the Ice Bears. Knoxville incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
