Louisiana's Stuart deadly on offense in 6-2 win against Fayetteville

Adam Stuart had two goals to lead the Louisiana IceGators to a 6-2 victory over the Fayetteville FireAntz.

Stuart scored at 5:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Louisiana and again while 4:54 into the second to make the score 3-1 Louisiana.

Louisiana surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the IceGators average 3.5 goals per contest. The defensemen of Louisiana were also effective in Fayetteville's zone, and came away with two goals. By firing 35 shots on goal, the IceGators exceeded the 27.9 shots they average per game this year.

Louisiana also got points from Matt Robertson, who also registered one goal and one assist and Kirk Byczynski, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Louisiana also had goals scored by Clark Byczynski and Bret Peppler, who each put in one. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Shawn McNeil, who had two and Jeff Grant, Chris Wilson, Jordan Braid, and Mitchell Stretch, who contributed one each.

The FireAntz forced Louisiana goalie Kiefer Smiley to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Fayetteville was helped by Nick Craven, who had one goal. Craven scored 3:35 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Louisiana. Corey Tamblyn assisted on the tally. Fayetteville also got a goal from Kyle McNeil as well. More assists for Fayetteville came via Derek Elliott and Zach Carriveau, who each chipped in one.

Smiley recorded 33 saves for the IceGators. Louisiana totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Dustin Carlson took the loss and made 24 saves before being replaced by Peter Skoggard who made five saves. The FireAntz totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
