Bloomington squeaks by Peoria, 4-2

The Bloomington Thunder gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Peoria Rivermen.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Paul DAgostino at 17:37 of the third period.

Bloomington was sparked by DAgostino, who registered one goal.

The Thunder's defensemen were a huge part of the offense, scoring two goals and taking 13 shots. By firing 32 shots on goal, Bloomington exceeded the 19.2 shots it averages per game this year.

Bloomington additionally got points from Travis Granbois, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Kyle Watson, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Mike Henderson also scored for Bloomington. In addition, Bloomington received assists from Bobby Watson and Tyler Noseworthy, who each chipped in one.

Peoria's offense rang up 40 shots on the Thunder's net.

The Rivermen were helped by Matt Viola, who grabbed one goal. Viola scored on the power play 9:32 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Peoria. Peoria had gotten the advantage when Bloomington's Watson was sent off for tripping. Garrett Vermeersch picked up the assist. Peoria also got points from Joe Schiller, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Peoria came via Steve Morra, who had one.

BJ OBrien made 38 saves for the Thunder on 40 shots. Bloomington totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. The Thunder ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nic Polaski was ejected from the game. The Rivermen's Kyle Rank stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced.
