Huntsville hangs on, beats Bloomington 4-2Breland Homes Ice Fri, Feb 28, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Huntsville Havoc took the lead against the Bloomington Thunder in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 4-2 victory. Huntsville took over the lead for good with a goal by Justin Cseter at 1:27 in the first period. A hooking penalty on Paul DAgostino had put the Havoc on the power play. Dominic Osman provided the assist.Huntsville was led by Eric Alexander, who finished with one goal. Alexander scored 8:56 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Huntsville. In the losing effort, Bloomington was led by Mike Henderson, who registered two goals. Henderson scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 11:13 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Huntsville. The Thunder earned a power play opportunity when Brock Sawyer was put in the box for high sticking. Nic Polaski assisted on the tally. Henderson's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Huntsville with 1:00 left in the third period. Travis Granbois picked up the assist. With 39 shots on target during the contest, the Havoc exceeded the 26.7 shots they average per game this year. Huntsville also got points from Nick Lazorko, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Huntsville also got a goal from Ray Ortiz as well. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Leland Fidler, who had one. Bloomington's offense was clicking better than usual and put 28 shots on goal during the game, better than the 18.3 shots per game it averages. The Thunder were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 26 penalty minutes. Kevin Genoe rejected 26 shots on goal for Huntsville. The Havoc totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. For Huntsville, Ortiz was ejected from the game. BJ OBrien recorded 35 saves for Bloomington. The Thunder registered two goals on four power play opportunities.
