The Louisiana IceGators and the Peoria Rivermen played 60 tight minutes of hockey, but in the end it was Louisiana that came away with a 1-0 victory. The assists on the winning goal came courtesy of Shawn McNeil and Jeremy Boyer.The IceGators were led by Adam Stuart, who tallied one goal. Stuart scored on the power play 14:57 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Louisiana. Louisiana had gotten the advantage when Peoria's Matt Viola was sent off for hooking. McNeil picked up the assist. The IceGators excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Louisiana's offense operated below it season average. The IceGators put an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. The Rivermen failed to reach their usual level of shot production, putting 17 pucks on goal after averaging 23.0 shots per game this season. Peoria was held below its usual level of production. The Rivermen average 2.7 goals per game. Peoria was led by Garrett Vermeersch, who took three shots. Kiefer Smiley made 17 saves for Louisiana on 17 shots. The IceGators incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Rivermen's Kyle Rank stopped 26 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Peoria incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
