The Louisiana IceGators tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the xPensacola Ice Flyers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-4. A goal by Adam Pawlick put xPensacola up 5-1 in the third period, but Louisiana pulled to within one on Adam Stuart's tally 18:53 into the third period. Pawlick had two goals to lead the Ice Flyers to victory. xPensacola relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Pawlick, Corey Banfield and Joe Caveney took 19 of the team's 31 shots. Ryan Salvis also scored for xPensacola. Other players who recorded assists for xPensacola were Shaun Arvai, who had two and Malcolm Lyles, Keegan Flaherty, Roman Andrejev, Steve Bergin, and John Dunbar, who each chipped in one. Louisiana additionally got points from Jeremy Boyer, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Louisiana included Jeff Grant and Matt Robertson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Josh Duplantis, who had two, Chris Wilson, who had three, and Clark Byczynski and Bret Peppler, who contributed one a piece. Ross MacKinnon made 22 saves for the Ice Flyers on 26 shots. xPensacola incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Ice Flyers, Brett Lutes was ejected from the game. The IceGators took out Matt Zenzola after he had made 15 saves and installed Kiefer Smiley in goal, where he finished with 11 saves and the loss. Louisiana incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
