Bloomington downs Fayetteville in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Bloomington Thunder's Peter Cintala scored 2:36 into overtime to beat the Fayetteville FireAntz, 5-4 (OT).

Bloomington came back from a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Thunder was down 4-1 after a goal by Fayetteville's Matt Ridley at 4:38 in the second period. Bloomington knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Bobby Watson at 19:05 in the third period.

With three goals and four assists between them, Watson and Travis Granbois teamed up to power the Thunder's offense. Watson grabbed two goals and one assist and Granbois also notched one goal and three assists.

Bloomington stifled the FireAntz's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Thunder surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Bloomington averages 2.5 goals per game. The Thunder got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. The 40 shots that Bloomington put on net surpassed the Thunder's average of 19.3 shots per game this season.

Bloomington additionally got points from Cintala, who also registered one goal and one assist and Granbois, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Paul DAgostino also scored for Bloomington. More assists for Bloomington came via Eddie Olczyk, Kyle Watson, Marcus Mitchell, and Tyler Noseworthy, who contributed one a piece.

Fayetteville's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals. The FireAntz put 32 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.6 they average per game.

Fayetteville was helped by Corey Toy, who had two goals. Toy scored the first of his two goals at 1:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fayetteville. John Clewlow picked up the assist. Toy's next tally made the score 2-0 Fayetteville with 13:31 left in the first period. Matt Smyth provided the assist. Fayetteville also got points from Clewlow, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Ridley, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Fayetteville received assists from Corey Tamblyn, who had two and Tommy Lange, Bobby Reed, and Nick Craven, who each chipped in one.

BJ OBrien took the win and made 27 saves before being replaced by Breton Lindoff who made one save. Bloomington incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Dustin Carlson made 35 saves for the FireAntz on 40 shots. Fayetteville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
