Peoria wins tough contest against Fayetteville, 5-3Peoria Civic Center Sat, Feb 15, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Peoria Rivermen and the Fayetteville FireAntz were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Peoria made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Adam Hartley's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker. The Rivermen were led by Taylor Larsen, who had one goal. Larsen scored 9:27 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Peoria. Garrett Vermeersch assisted on the tally. The 28 shots that Peoria put on net surpassed the Rivermen's average of 22.1 shots per game this season. Peoria bested its season scoring average. This season, the Rivermen average 2.7 goals per contest. Peoria could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Peoria additionally got points from Matt Viola, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Peoria included Parker Stanfield and Aaron McGill, who scored one goal each.
