xPensacola blows out Huntsville, 7-1

The xPensacola Ice Flyers were firing on all cylinders against the Huntsville Havoc, and when the final buzzer sounded Ice Flyers emerged with a 7-1 win.

xPensacola's Ross MacKinnon was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 31 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of MacKinnon will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.29.

The the Ice Flyers penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. xPensacola surpassed its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game. The Ice Flyers' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, xPensacola averages 3.7 goals per contest. The Ice Flyers put 41 shots on net during the contest, more than the 28.9 they average per game.

xPensacola was led by Joe Caveney, who racked up two goals and one assist. Caveney scored the first of his two goals at 17:22 into the first period to make the score 2-0 xPensacola. Joshua Turnbull provided the assist. Caveney's next tally made the score 7-1 xPensacola with 1:39 left in the third period. Ryan Salvis picked up the assist. xPensacola additionally got points from Brett Lutes, who also had one goal and one assist, Salvis, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Corey Banfield, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. xPensacola also got a goal from Adam Pawlick as well. More assists for xPensacola came via Justin Alonzo, who had two and Keegan Flaherty, Steve Bergin, and John Dunbar, who contributed one a piece.

Huntsville was held below its usual level of production. The Havoc average 3.4 goals per game. Huntsville's offense rang up 32 shots on the Ice Flyers' net.

The Havoc were led by Eric Alexander, who dished out one assist.

xPensacola registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Jesse Kallechy made 34 saves for Huntsville on 41 shots. The Havoc totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play.
