Clarke stymies Huntsville, Mississippi Surge wins 2-1

Mississippi Surge relied on the sparkling performance of Dan Clarke in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Huntsville Havoc.

Mississippi Surge was sparked by Dean Moore, who registered one goal. Moore scored on the power play 16:36 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Mississippi Surge. Mississippi Surge earned a power play opportunity when Eric Alexander was put in the box for hooking.

Mississippi Surge's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Huntsville power plays. Mississippi Surge put 36 shots on net during the contest, more than the 22.4 it averages per game.

Kyle Kudroch also scored for Mississippi Surge. In addition, Mississippi Surge received assists from Dion Campbell and Bill Baker, who each chipped in one.

Huntsville's offense operated below it season average. The Havoc average 3.6 goals per game.

Huntsville was led by Nick Lazorko, who scored the team's only goal. Lazorko scored 12:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville. Josh Harris assisted on the tally.

Clarke recorded 27 saves for Mississippi Surge. Mississippi Surge incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Kevin Genoe made 34 saves for the Havoc on 36 shots. Huntsville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
